Hi, I’m Peter, one of the conductors for this year. I’m currently a 5th year studying Electronics with Music Technology so I've been with the band for a long time now. My interest in music started when my parents inherited a grand piano, and from there I went on to learn clarinet and saxophone. I've always enjoyed playing in ensembles because the community spirit is fantastic.
When conductor auditions came around last year, I decided to give it a go because I often found myself sitting in the band thinking how I’d do things differently... So I auditioned, and was successful, but I had to give up the position due to suddenly getting a placement at Sony. Now I’m back and I've had a year to prepare some fantastic pieces, I can't wait to try them out and enjoy my final year with the band!

Hi, I’m Thomas, one of the Concert Band conductors this year alongside Pete. This is my second year with the band having been re-elected at the end of last year. Rather ironically I do not play a wind or brass instrument although I can be found at the back of the orchestra with the percussion section! I grew up in Paderborn, Germany where I studied the organ with Ulrich Schneider, Andreas Konrad and Johannes Pöld.
I am currently studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Conducting with John Stringer at the University of York. I recently conducted the University of York Concert Orchestra on their tour to Berlin as well as Cosi fan Tutte with the University Opera Society. I really enjoyed working with the Concert Band over the past year and look forward to working with them again next year.
